Meet Shayla

HEY TRIBE! I’M SHAYLA!

Before I get started, I want to share that my favorite word is HEALING!

I am so excited as I am writing my very first blog. I am the woman who is known for having a way with words. Words are my way; they help to both express the joys and pains of my journey. I feel that there is no better way to genuinely express who I am as you all get to know the reason, I have launched my first website.

My name is Shayla Arianna Smith born and raised in the heart of West Philadelphia. I enjoy sitting and walking near the water. I adore exciting puzzles, especially ones that convey a story once you've completed them. I'm a writer at heart and I can sing a good soprano note every now and again. I enjoy films with a love story, action, and a sense of humor. I'm a huge fan of Grownish, All American, and don't laugh, but Different Strokes is my ultimate favorite. Oh, and I enjoy watching my favorite sermon series or praise and worship teams. I appreciate a wide variety of foods, but seafood is my personal favorite. I'll eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner if you get me a lovely dish of steamed shrimp with cocktail sauce.

Since the age of 16 I have been known to encourage and uplift with just one word or phrase. I am a bookworm, and I am obsessed with descriptive words that help to paint the picture of one’s heart and/or experience. This obsession for reading and words has culminated into the reason why I wrote this blog. I want my tribe to know me and it is my heart's desire to get to know you too!

I have the aptitude for motivating women through their most traumatic experiences of pain while encouraging them to deepen their relationship with God. I am a devout 12-year-old Christian woman. I gave my life to Christ at the age of 19 September 26, 2010. I believe in one God who is three persons in one (God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit). I didn't find God; he found me, and since I've been with him, my life has not been easier, but my life has been better. I believe we give up because of the replayed, recurrent and rehearsed traumas of our lives, and because our suffering can be so common, we assume we have seen everything there is to see. That is definitely not the case! You can only become the best version of yourself via the lens of perspective. However, if you look at things from the appropriate angle, you'll notice that you have the power to steer your life in the direction of your destiny.

It is my aim to be a voice for the lost, wounded and broken. For women who have been severely battered, bruised, or abused. For the women who have dared to push the limits of their lives and live beyond the pain. It is a distinct and unique privilege for me to serve you through this Wounds That Heal platform. Wounds That Heal is on a mission to offer women all over the world the opportunity to go through their own healing process authentically. To commit to encouraging them in the development of their faith, identity, confidence, and sense of purpose in Christ. I am committed to providing a platform for women all over the world to CONNECT THEIR HURTING PLACES TO THE PROMISES OF GOD! My long-term goal is to open a Christian resource building where Wounds That Heal will provide various opportunities for women to heal. Wounds That Heal will change the world by helping women boldly face their pain within to empower one’s mindset from permanent wounds to healing.

Help me in assisting you as we change the world one wound at a time! What are some of the topics you'd like me to cover, as well as some issues you'd like us to discuss together? Remember, all it takes is one thought to change the course of your life. The only way to accomplish anything is to do it. It is necessary for you to go through your healing process in order to get through your pain! Until next time, take care!

Love your tribe leader:

Shay
